On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Sabratha University hosted a panel discussion on Tourism Media Standards at the late Hisham Al-Faqi Hall, University Headquarters. The event was organized by the Faculty of Tourism and Archaeology, in cooperation with the Center for Archaeological and Historical Studies at Sabratha University.
The session was attended by the President of Sabratha University, the Director-General of the Libyan House for Science and Culture, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Archaeology, the Director of the Center for Archaeological and Historical Studies, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Gharyan University, the Director of the Tunisian Center for Tourism Media and President of the Maghreb Union for Tourism Media, the Director of the International Cooperation Office at Sabratha University, along with several researchers specializing in media and tourism.
The proceedings opened with a speech delivered by the Minister of Tourism via video conference, in which he praised the efforts of the participants and stressed the importance of tourism media in advancing both academic and professional fields related to the tourism sector. He also outlined the Ministry’s vision for raising the standards of tourism media practices.
The panel discussion covered several key themes, including the role of media in enhancing the tourism sector, the importance of international cooperation in strengthening tourism identity, and the foundations for establishing departments of Tourism Media within faculties of tourism and archaeology.
On the sidelines of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Sabratha University and the Libyan House for Science and Culture. The MoU includes a number of areas of mutual interest, particularly in academic and training activities, as well as organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops that contribute to advancing academic and cultural development.
