Sabratha University is one of the public universities in Libya, with its administrative headquarters located in the city of Sabratha. It originally consisted of a group of colleges, some of which date back to 1992. These colleges were initially affiliated with Al-Zawiya University until Cabinet Resolution No. (157) of 2015 was issued, establishing Sabratha University and separating these colleges from Al-Zawiya University, assigning them to Sabratha University. Currently, the university comprises (23) colleges distributed across the areas of: (Sabratha - Surman - Al-Jameel - Zliten - Regdalin). 

The university has (1383) faculty members, (505) teaching assistants, and more than (1868) administrative staff members. The student body consists of approximately (14,037) students. 

The university strives to focus on human resources, elevating students' scientific, intellectual, and moral standards to contribute to raising a new generation characterized by knowledge and ethics. It also aims to achieve educational and professional quality to build scientifically qualified cadres, aware of contemporary changes, and suitable for the labor market.
