In culmination of the university's efforts to enhance the academic aspect in general, and to motivate and support its scientific staff in particular through benefiting from cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding with universities and scientific and research institutions, the first fruits of the initiative for studying abroad at one's own expense came to fruition. This was realized through sending a number of faculty members from the University of Sabratha to pursue doctoral studies at Sohag University in Egypt, benefiting from the advantages and grants included in the joint cooperation agreement, which materialized in the completion of a faculty member's graduate studies and obtaining the precise doctoral degree.
Yesterday, Sunday, the PhD thesis in organic chemistry was discussed at Sohag University by the student: Leila Ramadan Ali Abu Salla, a faculty member at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sabratha, titled "Design, Preparation and Biological Evaluation of Some Novel Heterocyclic Compounds Analogous to Norfloxacin."
The discussion was attended by Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Naamani, President of Sohag University, the Dean of the Faculty of Science at Sohag University, several college agents, the Director of the Central Graduate Studies Department, the Head of the Chemistry Department, a group of faculty members and their assistants, and the researcher’s family.
The supervisory committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Sagheer, Professor of Organic Chemistry at Sohag University, Prof. Dr. Jamal Abu Rahma, a faculty member at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Minya University, and Prof. Dr. Ismail Omar Al-Akash, a faculty member at Al-Zawiya University in Libya.
