(A New International Achievement for Sabratha University)

Sabratha University is a partner in the SAHARA NEXUS project under the Erasmus+ program.

Sabratha University is pleased to announce the acceptance of the SAHARA NEXUS (2026) project, titled: “Strengthening Higher Education Capacities for Water–Energy–Food Nexus in Saharan Regions.” This project is funded by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) 2026 program of the European Union.

The project aims to strengthen the educational and institutional capacities of higher education institutions in Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria by developing education and training in the Water, Energy, and Food Nexus (WEF Nexus) and supporting sustainable and resilient solutions to address the challenges of climate change, resource scarcity, and desertification in Saharan regions.

International Partnership:

The project includes nine partners from university and research institutions in Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria, in addition to two European partner universities.

Key Project Aspects:

▪️ Developing faculty capacities in interdisciplinary and applied education.

▪️ Designing new and innovative educational modules in the fields of water, energy, and food.

▪️ Promoting problem-based and experiential learning.

▪️ Supporting collaboration between universities, the public and private sectors, and the local community.

▪️ Enhancing sustainable resource management and climate change adaptation.

Contribution to Sustainable Development:

The project directly contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to clean water, clean energy, zero hunger, and climate action.

This achievement underscores Sabratha University's ongoing commitment to expanding its international partnerships, developing its academic and research capabilities, and actively contributing to finding sustainable solutions to environmental and climate challenges.
