The Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Science in Sabratha organized a scientific day titled "Chemistry and Its Applications," which included various segments and scientific activities presented by faculty members and students of the department. Scientific Lectures:
The first lecture was about "Medical Chemistry," presented by Ms. Mariam Al-Bahloul, who focused on the importance of chemistry in medicine, diagnosing medical conditions, prescribing dosages, and pharmaceutical formulations, as well as the role of chemistry in sterilization and other significant uses in medical fields.
The second lecture was about "Green Chemistry," presented by Dr. Afaf Amer, who discussed the importance of green chemistry in addressing environmental pollution, waste, emissions, and harmful discharges, emphasizing the application of green chemistry to protect the environment.
The general program for this day also included a presentation on safety rules in chemical laboratories, as well as practical scientific demonstrations of chemical experiments performed on stage, in which students from the department participated, receiving great admiration and interaction from the attendees. Following this, the scientific exhibition was opened, containing scientific chemical presentations represented by laboratory experiments, scientific posters, and handicrafts symbolizing the uniqueness of this distinguished scientific event.
Moreover, the activities of the scientific day were attended by a large number of educational and administrative staff at the college, led by the Dean of the college, as well as a large gathering of students from the scientific departments and a group of interested individuals and specialized professors in the field of chemistry.
